There are four main types of SEO where all help you earn greater visibility in search results.
Black Hat SEO helps you to go faster in your search. It usually costs less because we are taking shortcuts to the top in the search list. They also carry the risk that your website or the content or both can be rank lower, or be banned from the search results.
White Hat SEO usually takes a long time. It cost more and its techniques adhere to Google Webmaster Guidelines. It carries less risk and tends to deliver lasting and value over time. Many companies use White Hat SEO tools and techniques.
Grey Hat SEO is somewhere in the middle as these tactics are not specifically called out in Google’s Guidelines. It is not safe to assume that just because a specific technique isn’t mentioned as being deceptive it will get you into trouble, that it will shield you from demotion or penalty.
Negative SEO is the practice of implementing Black or Grey Hat SEO techniques. With this, you can harm someone’s website. Harming your competitors makes room for you to move up in search results.
